- My daughter challenged me to NaNoWriMo
 (cache)(National Novel Writing Month) where the goal was to write the first draft of an entire novel in the month of November. We both managed to produce 50,000+ word novels. It took a couple of hours a day, but I found that it was much easier and more fun than I had expected. I decided to do a start off with a light young adult fantasy, The Harpers' Band which was a lot of fun. The plot and the characters evolved as I wrote. I have been working on editing it off and on ever since. I have an early draft ready now and I would love to get comments on it. As I get time I'll add chapters to this website.
- NaNoWriMo gave me the confidence to begin work on a second, non-fiction book about the problems Government has with IT programs(or any other major new initiative, for that matter) and how to fix them. It really helped my daughter with her school work. She's not afraid of writing assignments any more, and laughs at any under five pages.
